How to become a licensed massage therapist (LMT)

A licensed massage therapist or LMT is trusted by most people when the need any type of massage therapy arises. After all, even with the many advances in modern medicine, massage therapy is now recognized as a curative treatment effective and complementary, sometimes the alternative. various forms of massage therapy have proven to be beneficial for a variety of health conditions. immediate pain relief and long-term relief of symptoms have been experienced by patients after undergoing reflexology, acupressure, and craniosacral therapy. Even systems rehabilitation medicine now include deep massage and sports massage. There is even a special technique of massage during pregnancy specifically for pregnant women. Those without existing health problems can still enjoy the relaxation and sense of well being caused by shiatsu. But how to become a masseuse a licensed massage therapist or LMT U.S.?

A prospective study of licensed massage therapist or LMT first need to obtain the proper education. courses massage therapy average of 500 hours of study covering the theory and techniques of massage, physiology, anatomy, kinesiology, pathology, hydrotherapy, first aid and CPR, clinical practice, ethics, business, communication, sanitation and legal issues. In addition, the aspiring massage therapist needs hands on experience. school standards are maintained through coordination with the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA)

Thirty and eight U.S. states require registration, certification or license before a massage therapist can do. Thirty-eight states offer such registration, certification or license. Among them, 32 eligible for the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork certification program in a massage therapist must meet certain requirements to be nationally certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCTMB). Alternatively, the massage therapist can be certified proving to have achieved certain levels of training and experience.

Being a registered massage therapist means to be officially listed as having certain necessary educational achievements. Being a certified massage therapist means that one has acquired specific criteria for higher education. Being a licensed massage therapist or LMT means you have become eligible for the highest level of regulation. This requires a more difficult process.

Thirteen states in the award U.S. licensing based on MBLEx certification test given by the Federation of the State massage therapy. Once a licensed massage therapist in one state, many other states are willing to accept State Endorsement. They have to determine, however, that the written and practical examination given was equivalent to their own or harder, and that the licensing authority as strict as theirs.

Some States recognize and credit someone who is already granted, especially the health-related fields in the state. This includes possession of a license as a physician, physical therapist, occupational therapist, a doctor of chiropractic, registered nurse and licensed practical nurse. In such cases, the state will require only a minimum number of hours of education specifically in therapy massage.

There are various regulations that a massage therapist must meet in different cities and counties as well. They are meant to protect both professionals and the public against those who seek to abuse of the profession and use it maliciously, resulting in degradation of truly professional practitioners. Some cities and counties therefore, may need a massage therapist for fingerprints and settled in diseases such as venereal disease. In some areas, a therapist Massage is also not allowed to make calls from home or giving a massage to a person of the opposite sex.

Today, a licensed massage therapist or LMT has become so confident in people who need healing massage therapy so that a successful LMT often now routinely does billing insurance for people in automobile accidents. The care of patients and their families has gone beyond the normal call of duty.
