Dr. Mikao Usui Reiki founded in the mid-nineteenth century, while he was looking for the ancient secret of healing. It was in the Indian sutras, written in Sanskrit, where he discovered a formula for contacting a higher power could provide healing. During a 21 days fasting and meditation in the mountains of Kort-Yama, followed the formula and saw a white light that his conscience and the healing power that he had been looking for. This beam of light hit him in the forehead and made him unconscious. During this state arose from his physical body and was beautiful light colored bubbles containing the symbols of Reiki. As he contemplated each symbol that was a line for each symbol and the knowledge of its use. This was the beginning of the practice of Dr. Usui Reiki energy around Japan for the rest of his life. Reiki is energy healing hands. It can also be done a couple of inches from the body, and healing in the absence of long distance. In Reiki I students the experience of tuning class, learn the history and lineage of Reiki Master Reiki, hand positions, positions kanji, land and balance Scanning and transmission, with hands on clinical practice, and other more specialized techniques based on the Reiki Master. In Reiki II students experience Tuning second level, learn some of the symbols of Reiki, long distance healing, emotional healing and balance of the heart, the root / Sacrum and the mental level, the elimination of the emotional layer clouds, hands in clinical practice, and other more specialized techniques depending on Reiki Master. I must stress that Reiki has become so popular with many different teachers, and as a result there are many different techniques and preferences that Reiki incorporated in under the umbrella traditional Usui Reiki. One thing I recommend is that you seek a teacher who will give you plenty of hands on clinical practice.
In addition, there are a plethora of other Reiki practices that have emerged over the years. No type is better than another. I'm sure this is not is an exhaustive list. Do your own research. This will help you get started.
I would like to reiterate that there is a better method. Is what is drawn the integrity and humility of the Master Teacher of Reiki, and intent. If a teacher said that his Reiki method is superior to others then I would say that is a flag red ego. Do not connect with arrogance. Follow your intuition. All healing modalities have their place.
Finally, a way of life enables an interpretation Reiki and its teachings is to practice the Five Spiritual Principles of Reiki Plus

- 3) Only for today, I will accept my many blessings
- 4) Only for today, I will be at peace
